Grass snake (Natrix natrix). Death feigning and skin shedding (sloughing)

This snake was found whilst shedding it's skin. Skin is shed regularly as the snake grows, and may happen several times a year. The snake is responding to a presumed predator by feigning death, in the hope that it will then be left alone.
