Corn-wallis occupied one of the buildings as hisheadquarters during the Revolution, andthe French allies were quartered thereafter the surrender at Yorktown. Duringthis time one of the main buildings wasdestroyed by fire, and Louis XVI of Francehad the structure rebuilt at his own privateexiiense.
