A pretty trifle for toilet table is a pansy sachet, made as follows: Takea piece of cotton batting and roll it into a ball about the size of an egg, andsprinkle with sachet powder; cut from pale yellow tissue paper a squarelarge enough to cover theball and leave enough at topto form pansy petals Ij4 in-ches deep. After the squareis cut, fold the paper backand forth into small plaits, like a paper fan, and thendraw it through the hand sev-eral times; when unfolded itwill present a soft, crepy sur-face; place the ball in thecenter of this and fold thepaper to top of ball and tieclosely with hair wire. Slashthe paper that is left abovethe wire into four equal partsand round the edges; cut one more petal from an extra piece of paper andmucilage it under and between two of the petals left on the bag. Thisforms a perfect pansy top to the ball, and the illusion is completed by paint-ing each petal slightly with oil colors
