Skin lesions. Close-up of the leg of a 57-year-old female patient affected by granuloma annulare. This harmless skin condition has no known origin, although in adults it may be associated with diabetes. It is characterised by a rounded, raised area of skin that spreads with time to form a ring. No treatment is necessary, although it may take months or years to heal. Steroid creams are occasionally used to accelerate disappearance.
