An early portrait of American professional heavyweight boxing champion Jack Dempsey, ----- Full name William Harrison "Jack" Dempsey (1895 – 1983). He was nicknamed Kid Blackie, Young Dempsey or the Manassa Mauler .He competed from 1914 to 1927, reigning as the world heavyweight champion from 1919 to 1926 and becoming a cultural icon of the 1920s. He pioneered the live broadcast of sporting & boxing events. There are some rumours of alleged Romanian origins, giving his real name as Teodor Domșa. The only boxer ever to beat Dempsey by a knockout was Fireman Jim Flynn.
