June weddings, coming on the heels of Memorial day, have prevented any- thing like a slump in the florists' busi- ness. Podesta & Baldocchi have three weddings coming off this month in the ranks of their .staff. A. F. Podesta, Jr., is to marry Miss Lillian Bowman; Emil Mangini is to marry Miss Alvina Kocliler, and Adolph Bacigalupi will be married to Miss Elda Dal Bon. All the brides are San Franciscans. J. A. Axell says that not only was Memorial day business good, but all orders were taken care of. "This year shipping orders showed a demand for higher-priced stock, especially roses, than ever before," said Mr. Axell. ''The reason is, no doubt, to be found in the prevailing high express rates. People can't pay high rates on cheap flowers.'' Fred Bertrand, of the Palace Hotel Flower Shop, says tliat the number of conventions to meet In San Francisco iluring Juno makes it safe to predict a good month for florists. Brown & Kennedy base their belief on a prosperous June upon the number of wedding decoration orde
