The work of this division, whose mem-bership is rapidly approaching one thousand, is now?well under wav. May 7, 1921 Electric Railway Journal 861 Removable Tower Used for MakingOverhead Repairs THE accompany-ing illustrationshows a removabletower used by theEdinburgh Corpora-tion Tramwayswhich is bolted to alorry for use in mak-ing overhead repairsand which is readilylifted off when notneeded. This leavesthe lorry free forother work. Thistype of tower hasalso been found veryconvenient as an aidin the erection ofsome new overheadrunway in the ma-chine shop extensionof this road. Thetower was bolted toa low truck to facilitate its being moved about and theoverhead railing was removed to provide UEMOVABLE TOWER IN USE One Way to EnlargeOil Boxes THE disadvantage of the small oil box on the framesof old motors such as the has, of course, been recognized for a long time and many ways ofenlarging these have been tried. The Little Rock (Ark.) Railway & Electric Companyhas some of these motors and has found a novel andsatisfactory way of enlarging the oil boxes. Sectionsof old boiler tubes 4 or 5 in. long, 3i in. in diameter, are first squared up and made to fit the openingof the box on the motor frame. The section of pipeis then welded to the motor frame, thus adding con-siderable capacity to the oil box. A cover, retained witha spring, is then put on top of the section of pipe. Thiswork was started with the use of the two Indianapoliswelders which the company has for doing trackwork.
