The scenery and all the appointments of the stage were exquisitely elegant and effective. The dialogue of the piece was wittily pointed at the follies of the time, the application of which was aided by a chorus in the person of Mr. Mathews, armed with innumerable jests and a sufficient commodity of comic songs.'
