180309-N-PH222-0582 PACIFIC OCEAN (March 9, 2018) Ships of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) –USS Essex (LHD 2), USS Anchorage (LPD 23), and USS Rushmore (LSD 47) – are training together in the Navy’s first ARG Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT) exercise. SWATT is led by the Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) and is designed to increase warfighting proficiency, lethality, and interoperability of participating units.
