The base consists of nine pieces of porcelain: a middle piece with a scalloped and gilt edge, around which eight shell-shaped parts with the same edge join together on an oak floor surrounded by a gilt bronze edge. The outer edge consists of a plinth above which rocks, flowers and leaves, coral, shells and snails are attached. The upper surface is decorated with Kakiemon scatter flowers.
