A German flamberge, circa 1580. Broad flame blade with a medial ridge on both sides. Long ricasso with guards curving towards the blade. Slightly curved quillons of square section terminating in volutes. Guard rings of square section on each side fitted with inserted fleur-de-lys ornaments. Leather-covered grip with remnants of an old fringe finery. Double conical pommel, the top with a cut blossom ornamentation.
