On March 15th, 2016, following the 88th Brigade's decon exercise, SSG Trevis Wimer, New York Guard, was awarded the State of New York Medal of Merit with Gold Shield Device (denoting that this is the 6th time he's received this award) for his service in the US Army. The State of New York Medal of Merit is awarded to those who have received a commendation for meritorious service in peacetime or who served in direct support of combat operations.
