They are thenjoined in two halves, ABCand D E F, Fig. 175, afterwhich they are joined alongA C and soldered to the up-per part of the shaft. Themiter joints at the lowerend of the gables should beneatly put together, scrap-ing all joints so as to make a smooth finish, being careful to keepthe metal free from acid stains.
