Trout fishing amidst spawning sockeye salmon. Talarik River, AK

September 1, 2008 Tom Robinson, owner and operator of the Rainbow King Lodge in Illiamna, fishes for trout in the legendary Talarik River amidst spawning sockeye salmon. This region’s lakes, rivers and streams are the spawning grounds for the fabled Bristol Bay salmon fishery and lie within a few miles of the proposed Pebble Mine site. Robinson is convinced the mine will destroy his business which relies upon the image of Southwest Alaska being one of vast pristine wilderness.
