The plant designated by me as the main form (fig. 11), was collected in the district by J. Hornell, east of the East Cheval Paar in the Gulf of Mannar, at a depth of about 10 in. It is a sand Caulerpa with the same mode of growth as C. Freycinetii with a very coarse horizontal stem, which often grows very deep in the sand.
