Many faithful hassidic pilgrims arrive to Uman in Ukraine in order to celebrate Rosh Hashanah

Many faithful hassidic pilgrims arrive to Uman in Ukraine in order to celebrate Rosh-ha-Shana, Jewish new year by the grave of late Rabbi Nakhman, who died here in 1810 and inspired thousands of faithful Jews to come over to Uman and celebrate Rosh-ha-Shana in joy and positive spirit. Nakhman is buried on the territory of the old Jewish cemetry, where thousands of Jews were massacred in 1767 during Gaidamakas cossack uprising. Today thousands of hassidic pilgrims and ordinary Israelis, Americans and other nationals of Jewish origin come to Uman. One of them, state serviceman from Israel, Ofir, is pictured here holding sacred book next to the grave of Rabbi Nachman (Nakhman) son of Feiga, prior to Rosh-ha-Shana, new 5770 year which was 18 September 2009
