The com-bination of the balmy Gulf stream climate with the keenstimulation of the extreme northern latitude, has hadmuch to do no doubt with the amalgamation of races rep-resented in the modern Briton. On a bright morning in May in 1903 I left the train atAlfreton, Derbyshire, armed with a pocket camera, tomake a foot trip to Ogston Hall and vicinity.
