He then felt himself in a situation that would havemade the blood of a Crockett run cold; but he kept to work with a crotched stick that behad cut for the purpose, until he succeeded in getting a noose around the fellows neck, and,after several severe struggles to unwind the lines from the limbs which the bear would runaround, he finally dragged his bearship down, and placed him in his gig, a seat in which herefused to its owner, for some time.
