Thethus infectedmaterial is thendried in air. Asa check experi-ment, a portionof this nfectedand dried ma-terial is placedin sterilized nu-trient jelly inthe culture chamber. Theremaining portion of the infected material is then passed through the steriliza-tion process, care being taken that it passes throughlike conditions as would the sterilized dressings. After a suitable time (at least three days), ifa growth is found in the check experiment, we arecertain that the test material was infected. If nogrowth has taken place in the infected material thathas passed through the sterilization processes, weare certain that sterilization has been complete inall the dressings.
