Many of thesespecimens will show not onlythe navicular, but the outeredge of the pedal, bone to befractured. In some extreme cases whereinflammation runs high, and isallowed to continue very long,this separation of the wall fromthe internal structure may becontinued so far as to causeulceration of the coronet andloss of the entire hoof; but this is rare.
