There has been during the last week, and still is, the worst glut of flowers Boston has seen for a long time. Since Memorial day the demand appears to have steadily dwindled, and as a result prices have slumped heavily, and there is a large, unsalable surplus of stock. Roses and carnations are only cleared at low prices in thousand lots, although a limited number of fine quality blooms realize fair prices. Sweet peas are abundant and of splendid quality, but the sales are slow. Darwin tulips and such narcissi as poeticus and albus plenus odoratus arc hardly bought at all, while snapdragons, stocks, feverfew, myosotis, candytuft and calendulas realize little. Small-flowered gladioli are almost unsalable and even fine spikes of Ilalley, America, Augusta and Mrs. King are hard to move at $4 to $6 per hundred. An abundant crop of outdoor valley is arriving, of better quality than tlie forced article, but the sales are slow. Lilies have been hard to move at even $3 to $o per hundred. The only peo
