Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) in a mossy meadow, Gwaii Haanas, Moresby Island, Haida Gwaii, BC

Ikeda Cove, south of Burnaby Narrows on Moresby Island, Haida Gwaii, was the site of a Japanese copper mine in the early 1900s. Foxglove now covers the old mining site. The foxglove plant is toxic to the invasive Sitka deer and survives their voracious browsing that prevent the growth of the other plants that would normally be present here.
