If one is able to compare my casein the upper end of the tibia with Dr. Taylors in the lowerend of the femur, there seems no reason why he did not obtainan equally good result; there was, however, some differencein the technic: I employed the Esmarch and am quite confidentthat thanks to this I was able to curette more thoroughly;then tlie cavity was disinfected with pure carbolic acid a num-ber of times; when the Esmarch was removed the bleedingwas so profuse from the bone shell that I replaced the Esmarchand lined the cavity with wax; I then packed gauze into thecavity with a h
