Sir Joseph Paxton (1803 – 1865) was an English gardener, architect and Member of Parliament, who designed the gardens and castle in Lismore, County Waterford, Ireland. Worked on Chatsworth House, but is probably best known for designing the Crystal Palace. He also cultivated the Cavendish banana, the most consumed banana in the western world.
