Animals, Birds, A male Green Violetear Hummingbird, Colibri thalassinus, and a male Grey-tailed or Gray-tailed Mountaingem, Lampornis cinereicauda, face off in a territorial display in the Savegre River Valley in Costa Rica. The Violetear has spread his 'ear' feathers to appear more aggressive. Until recently the grey-tailed Mountaingem was believed to be a subspecies of the white-throated mountaingem, Lampornis castaneoventris.
