Plaque on St Leonard's Chapel commemorating the voyage made by lugger Lloyd SS 5 from Scarborough to St Ives Cornwall England
Whilst returning from the herring fishery at Scarborough in 1902 lugger Lloyd SS 5 made the six hundred mile voyage in a record breaking 50 hours, an average speed of 12 knots. Luggers were the fishing vessels built in and operated out of Cornish ports.
