Lydekker considers it aspecies distinct from the Mishmi Takin, and named it This seems the most expedient thing to do, but it isunfortunate that the laws of priority necessitate the keepingup of the name tibetanus, which is a misnomer, in preferenceto the name sinensis, which is both accurate and descriptivefrom a geographical standpoint. The natives everjrwhere inWestern China designate this animal Yeh Niu ; this maybetranslated Wild Cattle, though Wild Cow or WildOx is an equally correct rendering.
