Hong Kong land reclamation. Land reclamation fills in coastal areas to provide more land. This view looks east along the Victoria Harbour coastline of Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong, China, from a point in the Central area, just to the east of the International Finance Centre. Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated cities in the world, and large amounts of land have been reclaimed from the sea since the 19th century. This can impact the environment, and laws and organisations exist to protect the harbour from excessive development. Photographed in 2010.
