Indications are that stock of garden peas for plant- ing will be short in some\yarleties, as many fields did not yield over fifty per cent. Summer and winter squash are re- ported to have made good progress throughout the state. Growers in the Delta district now anticipate a normal yield. The condition of the seed bean crop has not improved. Growers are certain that the yield will fall below normal. In southern California the growers began harvesting tomatoes and peppers for seed during the latter part of Au- gust. The season has been fairly satis- factory to date and a normal yield is anticipated, depending, of course, upon favorable climatic conditions during the rest of September and October.
