GRANADA, Nicaragua — During a Sunday morning mass at the chapel at Granada Cemetery. The chapel, near the cemetery's entrance, was constructed in 1922. Granada Cemetery is Nicaragua's oldest cemetery and was, between the period 1876 and 1922, widely used as the final resting place of many of country's political and cultural elite, including six Nicaraguan presidents. Most of its tombs and mausoleums are above ground and in stark white stucco and marble.
