COAL, SAND AND WOOD STORAGE BUILDING, WITH SAND TOWER AT RIGHT THE Calgary Municipal Railway operates 83 milesof track in a city having a population of morethan 75,000, which is spread over an area of 4O2square miles. The population density is low, renderingthe furnishing of profitable electric railway service amatter of some difficulty. The electric railway department is at present com-bined with the lighting department under the imme-diate direction of R. A. Brown, who has the title ofgeneral superintendent of electric light and railwaydepartments. The two departments were combined afterthe resignation of Thomas H.
