Clear, sonorous bronze that hasnever been buried. Fasliioned in cylindrical form with roundedshoulders and flattened bottom on a circular, contracting pedestalwith flaring foot. On the flattened top a broad flange handlefor lifting the cover; on the body two small loop handles. Cover,body and pedestal arc channeled in a succession of deep lateralgrooves. The entire vessel covered with a rich patina of brilliantmalachite-green, mahogany-brown, gun-metal hue, the russet ofcorroded iron and tones of indigo-blue, the varied enrichmentsextending to the interior. Low circular form on a shallow,slightlv spreading base resting on three short straight legs withanimal-head cappings. Tapering cover finishing in a plain cir-cular flanged handle. Around the shoulder of the bowl and thebase of the cover a deeply chiseled, strongly drawn dragon-scrollmotive in a primitive conventionalization, both cover and bowlmarked above and below by horizontal flutings.
