The Spanish is an early and heavybearer and along the Gulf Coast and in Florida where they can beplanted in April, two crops a year can be made. In that section thesecond crop can be planted as late as July 15th and they will mature before frost. The tops give you, hayand the nuts grain. In harvesting, the nuts cling fast to the vines and the tops and nuts are fed to thestock together as a hay and grain ration. The tops make good forage either green or cured. The Spanishpeanuts grow in close bush form, making it possible to plant them close and cultivate easier than the oldvine sorts. The nuts are smaller, but much sweeter and finer flavored than all the large ones, and arevery free from the pops that are so common in the large varieties. Best reoleaned, hand-pickedseed stock.
