Every one who knows any thing ofChrist, knows that he died, and that hedied on the cross. This is a great truth,and all men ought to think of it. Onegreat end of the Lords supper is toshow forth the Lords death till hecome, The text says, Christ died for our sins. All men who suffer, may be said in some sense to suffer for sin. Death came by sin. Some pains are sent to wean us from sin. Some pains are sent on us to punish us for our own sins*7* 77 78 SHORT SERMONS. Some pains are sent on us to give us achance to glorify God by our patienceand submission to his holy will, andthus also do good to others. But Christnever did love sin, and never did anything sinful. He had no sin of his knew no sin. He did not die forhis own sins. He had none to die he died, and he died for sins. The text says
