Statue of David by Michaelangelo: A perfect 19c cast copy of the original (acquired 1857), Cast Courts, Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington, Westminster, London, England, Great Britain, United Kingdom, Europe. — Due to environmental degredation some of these Victorian cast copies in the V&A are now in better shape than the originals. In the 19th century the museum commissioned a suitably proportioned fig leaf to hang on specially placed hooks in case Queen Victoria or other female dignitaries visited the exhibit.
