Tyndaris built by Dionysius of Syrarcuse in 396 BC after his victory over the Carthagians. Taken by the Romans in 254 AD, A large part of the city slipped into the sea during an earthquake caused by Southern Italy's Mount Vesuvius erruption in 70 AD and another in 356 AD
