Channel : le Sound (Chausey islands, Normandy, France).


The Sound is the channel North-West/South-East oriented, along the Big Island and is the main anchor of the archipelago. This name originated in the Nordic languages ​​("sund", in Scandinavian means "channel". Long a little more than half a mile wide, 100 to 500 meters, the Sound is a good oil shelter low. Le Sound est le chenal, orienté Nord-Ouest/Sud-Est, qui longe la Grande Ile et constitue le principal mouillage de l'archipel. Ce nom tire son origine des langues nordiques ( “sund”, en scandinave, veut dire “chenal”. Long d'un peu plus d'un demi-mille, large de 100 à 500 mètres, le Sound offre un bon abri à marée basse.
