A German hand-and-a-half sword, circa 1580. Double-edged (restored) blade of flattened hehagonal cross-section and recessed ricassos. The iron hilt has two large guard rings, S-shaped, curved quillons and a guard plate on one side. Twisted iron and brass wire grip cover with braided ferrules. Slightly bevelled ball pommel.
