Four representations from the Metamorphoses of Ovid are painted on the outside of the cuppa: the creation of heaven and earth (Ovid, Metamorphoses 1, 21-75), the creation of man (Ovid, 76-88), the Golden Age (Ovid, 89-112) and the Silver Age (Ovid, 113-124). The performances are separated by poplars. Four scenes from the Metamorphoses are also painted on the inside of the cuppa: the Copper and Iron Era (Ovid, 125-150), the Titanic battle (Ovid, 151-165), a meeting of the gods (Ovid, 166-261) and the flood with Deucalion and Pyrrha (Ovid, 262-312). The scenes are separated by plane trees. A hedgehog is painted in the center of the cuppa, Orpheus playing the lyre: trees and rocks move, beasts and birds are enchanted (variant), the four world epochs (golden, silver, bronze, iron age), 'Età dell'oro, argento, bronzo, et ferro' (Ripa), anonymous, c. 1660, gold (metal), h cm × w cm × d cm w cm × d cm
