1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible
Every year, just before the Super Bowl, Barrett-Jackson puts on one of the biggest auto auctions in the country. It has been several years since I have attended, primarily due to the threat posed by the COVID pandemic. There were a dozen or more huge tents to protect the majority of the vehicles to be auctioned off. Unfortunately, it was cloudy which made photography a challenge (because of low light levels) and it was quite chilly which challenged me to be selective in the choice of cars to photograph. Here is a 1959 Cadillac Series 62 convertible. If you followed the styling of the taillight on Cadillacs over the years, you would notice how they got bigger and bigger each year together with fins growing and eventually looking sharp enough to cut your hand off as it passed by. Additionally, this distinctive paint job makes me think of strawberry ice cream or cotton candy. Makes me hungry. it just received a full frame-on, high-quality restoration. It is powered by a factory 390ci engine mated to an automatic transmission — both original items. Someone picked it up for "only" $220,
