A hydraulic power press, c1933. A hydraulic press is a machine press which uses a hydraulic cylinder to generate a compressive force. It uses the hydraulic equivalent of a mechanical lever. It is also known as a Bramah press after its English inventor, Joseph Bramah (1748-1814).
