Headstone marking the grave of Christopher Wordsworth, younger brother of William Wordsworth. Christopher was rector of the Church of St Margaret the Queen, Buxted, Sussex, for some 25 years. It would appear that he was also Master of Trinity College, Cambridge at the same time for a number of years. He was a Doctor of Divinity. He died on 2nd of February 1846, aged 71 years. Like his famous brother, he was born in the family home in Cockermouth, then in Cumberland and now in Cumbria. His headstone is difficult to read as a great deal of erosion has taken place on the soft stone. In this image it is seen in the evening light of an English mid-summer.
