Such is my recollection of the arms ; for thedrawing remains at Salem. We pay little regard to these matters which are of nouse amongst us, unless to trace family connections and distinguish seals. Therehas been a tradition in the family that our first American ancestor came from York-shire. Perhaps this circumstance with the detail I have given, may enable you tocommunicate more accurate information of my ancestry than, in this country, wehave the power to acquire.
