JOHN HALDEN WARREN, a native of Hogans-burg, Franklin county. New York, was born onthe 23d of August, 1825, and is the son of LemuelWarren and Betsey n^e Richardson. His grand-father served in the revolutionary war, and hisfather, a descendant of the New England Warren ofvery early date, was a soldier in the war of attended the common schools of his nativeplace until thirteen years of age, and after removingto Wisconsin attended the first school taught in Janesville; later he was a pupil in a school whichwas kept in a log cabin in the town of Centre, andthere completed his early education. Havingdecided to enter the medical profession, he beganhis studies at the age of twenty in the office of , of Janesville, and afterward studied withDr. Dyer, of Chicago, and at the same time attendeda course of lectures at Rush Medical College, fromwhich he graduated in 1849. Immediately aftergraduation he established himself in his profession.
