A Marine rappels down a 40-foot tower during event five of the Weapon and Field Training Battalion Gauntlet competition March 24, 2017, on Parris Island, Event five requires all participants to rappel down a 40-foot tower for the fastest overall time. Teams of five competed in a nine-mile course consisting of nine events varying in military skill and physical difficulty. The day long competition provided an opportunity to build comradeship throughout the Tri-Command through physically demanding events that emphasize sportsmanship and teamwork. (Cpl. Vanessa Austin)
