The authorship of this is nmch disputed, some criticsattributing the Raising of Drusiana to Masohno andthe rest to Masaccio. Vasari gives the whole toMasolino. In my judgment the whole fresco is byMasaccio. The scene is divided into two parts. Onthe right, beneath a loggia, Drusiana rises from the bier. The Raising of Drusiana and SS. Peter andJohn healing a Cripple Masaccio. Carmine. surrounded by her parents, who raise their hands inamazement at the miracle. S. Paul and a disciplestand in front. To the left, S. Peter with S. John(the latter a beautiful figure with blonde hair, recallingthe type of Piero dei Franceschi) heals a cripple, whostretches his arm towards them. Between the sceneswalk two charming youths in dainty tunics of greenbrocade and pink. Behind are houses in good per-spective. ALTAR WALL 67 4 FILIPPINO LIPPL SS. Peter and Paulbefore the Proconsul and The Crucifixion of The masterpiece of Filippino. The figures have adignity lacking in his later work. To the right isthe Proconsul, whose features seem copied from somebust of Nero. Opposite to him is a noble Dantesquefigure, who appears to be accusing the Apostles ofdefacing an idol whic
