A juvenile Silver Gull (Larus novaehollandiae) examining a scrap of food between its feet

The Silver Gull (Larus novaehollandiae) is the commonest seagull seen in Australia. It has been found throughout the continent, but particularly coastal areas. However, it has also adapted well to urban environments and can be seen some way inland, around shopping centres and garbage dumps.
