A fine French gilt court-sword with chiselled hilt, circa 1780 A triangular thrusting blade, blued for its entire length on both sides and decorated with gilt fleur-de-lys. Gilt French coat of arms under a royal crown on both sides at the forte. A chiselled hilt lavishly decorated in relief with riders, soldiers, and military scenes against a stippled background. Original corded silver wire grip cover and Turk's heads. The wooden scabbard (partially restored) is covered with sharkskin and has a finely cut, gilt locket.
