The English varieties are very much larger and finer, hut are often ruined with mildew. This is readily held in check by spraying early in the spring, and as often as is accessary, with Bordeaux mixture. We find gooseberries a good crop. People are not much used to them, hut a taste can be readily cultivated to like them. We sell them for 10c. per quart at retail m Pulaski. HOUGHTON. A pale red variety, very productive but rather small. This and Dowrning are the most grown Hyde Park, Vt., May 29th. I received the plants all right and in good shape.
