He was a member of the S. A. F. and of the American Associa- tion of Nurserymen. He leaves a widow. The funeral service was held at his late residence, 463V2 First street, Brooklyn, on Saturday, and interment was made in Greenwood cemetery on Sunday. The business of the deceased will be carried on under the same style, with G. A. Joosten, a nephew, as manager. The Late C. H. Joosten. Christian H. Joosten, importer and dealer in bulbs, seeds and nursery stock, died at his home in Brooklyn, N. Y., on Thursday, July 21. For the past nine years Mr. Joosten had sufiered from dia- betes, but his condition was recently much improved, and his death from the disease came somewhat as a blow to his numerous friends. He was born April 5, 1838, at Amsterdam, Holland, and re- ceived a college education there. At the age of 18 he came to the United States, locating in Brownsville, Minn. When the civil war broke out he enlisted in a Wisconsin regiment and served through- out the war, rising to the rank of quar- termaster sergeant. The war ended, he returned to Brownsville and entered the hardware business. After a prolonged visit to Holland he in 1873 returned to Davenport, la. The regular monthly meeting of the Tri-city
